MONTE PLACIDO is the perfect launching spot for any excursion in the Samana area.
Simply make your reservation and walk down our hill to the main road until you reach the local store at the bottom. From there a tour bus will meet you out in front of Colmado Nene. You can book your excursion through a tour operator or drive there on your own schedule.
Most tours leave at 8:00 am, returning around 2:00 pm and often include lunch.

Hiking in the Hills |
Ready for an adventure? Hire a guide to take you hiking in the hills and find the true beauty in the heart of the Dominican Republic. Spanish speaking guide knows the Dominican names and medicinal uses of plants which he will point out along the way. He is knowledgeable of the birds and numerous fruit trees. The hike is great exercise and requires durable footwear. You can travel on horseback at an additional cost. |

THE EL LIMON WATERFALLS
These breathtaking waterfalls are a great option for location and pricing.
The walking trail is about fifteen minutes from Monte Placido right after Rancho Ismael.
Going on foot the only cost is the Park entrance fee of 50 pesos or approx. 1 US dollar per person.
Taking a horse with a local Rancher should cost no more than $500 pesos (about 10 dollars) plus Park entry fee.
Tour operators offer the excursion in the morning.
If you go on your own, we suggest to do it in the afternoon, to avoid crowds.

WHALE WATCHING IN SAMANA.
Every year thousands of Humpback Whales start their journey from the cold waters in the North Atlantic to the Caribbean.
More than 1,500 of them visit the Bay of Samana each winter so at any given time during the season (mid January to late March ), there are about 300 Humpback Whales in the Bay.

You cannot visit this site independently as it is only accessible through early morning departure by boat.

Swirling above are hundreds of beautiful coastal birds in this unmatched tropical setting.
